  • Friday 30 September 2022 #PaintTheChange Oaklands School is for diversity and we are always finding different way to teach our students to learn about different cultures. We are a very inclusive school and therefore working with Paint The Change was an amazing opportunity for our students.
  • Monday 26 September 2022 European Day of Languages Our students dressed up in colourful outfits to celebrate the European Day of Languages and we manage to raise £514.64.
  • Friday 9 September 2022 Noah Williams came to Oaklands One of our most inspiring Alumni Noah Williams came to Oaklands to pay a visit to his old school. It was amazing to catch up with him and to discuss his hard work and dedication in representing England in Commonwealth Games. Although he would never let you think it he was always destined for greatness.
  • Thursday 8 September 2022 Year 11 Expectation Evening We were very pleased to have our Year 11 parents/carer at Oaklands to inform them about our curriculum. The parents were presented with a descriptive slideshow. Our staff always aim to build lasting partnerships between home, school and wider the community, to create opportunities for all learners.
  • Thursday 8 September 2022 Social Space of Old Bethnal Green Walking along the side streets and back alleys in the footsteps of locals, this self-guided tour is a short walk of just under 2 miles through the little-known but culturally rich and historically fascinating neighbourhood surrounding Old Bethnal Green Road conservation area
  • Thursday 25 August 2022 Oaklands Alumni Visit Huge thanks to Mr Alameen Hussain, Oaklands O.G. Alumni, who started his secondary school journey at Oaklands School in the Year 1990, for getting most of his fellow classmates together to attend Oaklands again after 32 years for a trip down memory lane.

  • Tuesday 19 July 2022 Year 7 Fundraising for Bangladesh Floods We are very proud of our Year 7 and Year 8 students for organising an event to raise funds in support of the recent crises in Bangladesh. The idea came solely from our young students from the goodness and kindness of their heart to help the less fortunate in Bangladesh in midst of the flooding.
  • Tuesday 12 July 2022 Year 11 Farewell Boat Party Year 11 Farewell Party was a huge success and turned out an amazing night of music, singing and memories. Students boarded the boat from Embankment pier and cruised over River Thames, overlooking various London attractions, towards Chelsea, Hammersmith, Limehouse, Greenwich and returning back to Embankment.
  • Friday 8 July 2022 GCSE Spanish Residential GCSE Spanish Language students went to Spain as part of their learning. The students visited Malaga, Seville (Royal Alcazar Palace) and Mijas. They took lessons in OnSpain Language School’. Students explored the similarities/differences in Spanish culture and their own, as well as learning the importance of responsibility, time-keeping and independence.
  • Wednesday 6 July 2022 Summer Reading Challenge Take part in our Summer Reading Challenge by reading up to 6 new books over the summer holidays. You can borrow these books from our library at Oaklands or join your local library for extra points.
  • Tuesday 5 July 2022 Half Moon Exhibition Half Moon are hosting their seventh annual exhibition and displaying work of our students. Parents and Staff are invited to attend, please see the link below and visit the exhibition to support our students and other young talent in the local neighbourhood.
  • Thursday 30 June 2022 Oaklands wins first prize for "war through children's eyes" competition We are pleased to announce that our student, Emily, won first prize for her creative entry in 'War Through Children's Eyes' contest. Her creative and thought provoking entry was selected from a pool of hundreds of entries from schools across the UK.
  • Wednesday 29 June 2022 Student Librarians We want to thank our Student Librarian team for helping out at the Learning Hub. They have received their badges and a book as acknowledgement of all the hard work they give to the Hub.
  • Wednesday 22 June 2022 War Through Children's Eyes contest Our Art students recently participated in the War Through Children's Eyes contest and we are proud to announce that Oaklands has been selected as one of the finalists of the competition.
  • Tuesday 21 June 2022 Year 12 Business Students raise over £1000 for the Lonely Orphans Charity Year 12 Business students raised £1427 for the Lonely Orphans charity as part of their Business Studies coursework "Managing an Event".
  • Friday 17 June 2022 Year 9 organised campaigns focusing on poverty, housing and domestic violence We are very impressed with all Year 9 students for organising and managing a campaign competition over the last six days. The competition involved identifying a problem faced by the vulnerable, preparing presentations to raise awareness on the particular issue and looking for ways to support an organisation dedicated to the cause.
  • Friday 17 June 2022 Year 7 Aayan's trip to Havas London Ayaan won first prize in the Government Challenge on promoting healthy eating. Aayan's work was selected by the Mayor and his team alongside the prestigious Vicki Maguire Chief Creative Officer, Havas London and judge at Cannes film.
  • Wednesday 15 June 2022 Scholastic Book Fair We are having a Scholastic Book Fair in the Learning Hub from Thursday 7th of July until 14th of July.
  • Tuesday 14 June 2022 All London Athletics Competition We are very proud of Sadman and Rayan for their incredible performance during the London School Athletics Competition.
  • Monday 13 June 2022 Year 7 Cricket Team qualified for LSCA U12s Finals We are very pleased with the performance of our Year 7 Cricket Team as they have made it through to the London Schools Cricket Association U12s Finals Day. Oaklands scored a competitive total of 133-0 in 16 overs and secured a well deserved victory by 57 runs.
  • Tuesday 7 June 2022 Year 8 Geography Mayor Challenge Submission Earlier in the year, a number of our year 8 students had signed up for the Mayor of London Challenge. Our students were asked todesign a masterplan for a sustainable neighbourhood in the Royal Docklands. We are very proud to announce that our students have been shortlisted asone of 20 groups from 110 to move on to the next round!
  • Tuesday 7 June 2022 Year 7 West End In School Workshop This half term our Year 7 will be exploring the chaos that is created in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The workshop was led by the West End In Schools and students created dramatic interpretations of key scenes.

  • Monday 30 May 2022 Unmute - Discussion and Debate Club Rich Mix are starting a fun and friendly discussion and debate club for 11-14s called UnMute, which supports students to speak up and share their opinions, building communication skills which will help them at school and in their future life and career.
  • Wednesday 25 May 2022 Oakland's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" Congratulations to the talented cast of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' who delivered 5 successful performances in one week. The cast consisted of students across year 7 - 10 who worked incredibly hard to bring the characters, the story and the challenging language of Shakespeare to life.
  • Wednesday 25 May 2022 Working with St Paul's Cathedral Oaklands is honoured to work in conjunction with St Paul's Cathedral to create art pieces to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Dean at St Paul's commended on the Artwork which will be seen by thousands of visitors and will be on display for six months.
  • Tuesday 24 May 2022 Year 7 & Year 8 Tower Hamlets District Athletics Competition Two of our students ,Sadman and Rayan, performed exceptionally well during the Tower Hamlets District Athletics Competition and successfully qualified for All London Athletics Competition.
