The students heard about all the amazing things our students have been doing since leaving Oaklands, and they gave personal advice and guidance about next steps, be it apprenticeships, work or university.

  • Monday 10 July 2023 Year 8 Mandarin trip 2023 Well done to all of our Year 8 Mandarin students. On Thursday 6th July, they sat their YCT Level 1 Mandarin exam and so on Friday 7th July, they visited Chinatown on a well-deserved reward school trip.

  • Tuesday 4 July 2023 Year 9 D&T STEM challenge In the beginning of July we took twelve Year 9 students to Newham College as part of STEM challenge day. Two of our students, Mariyah Hussain 9M and Saara Hussain 9H, were part of the winning team for the following two categories.

  • Thursday 15 June 2023 Jack Petchey Awards On Monday 12th June, three students were invited to the Jack Petchey Awards to commemorate them on their achievements. The ceremony is designed to award young people who have gone above and beyond in academics, sports or achieved personal triumphs.
  • Friday 9 June 2023 Money Matters Year 7 had a fantastic session delivered by The Switch on Money Matters. They engaged in activities and discussion and heard from volunteers working in a variety of fields in order to help them start thinking about future careers and all things related to managing money.

  • Monday 5 June 2023 Year 10 Work Experience at the Royal College of Psychiatry At the start of this term from the 5th-9th June, six year 10 students completed a very successful work experience placement at the Royal College of Psychiatry. We are very proud of Henry Clarke, Rashed Ahmed, Kamil Salam, Ahbidul Mirza, Adam Warner and Zaahid Hussain who gained really valuable insight into the world of work. They were each assigned to different departments and worked with supervisors on various projects.
  • Thursday 25 May 2023 Save The Children Charity Donation Students of Oaklands raised £1,005 through their Sip of Kindness fundraiser in the Summer term 2023 for the Save The Children charity. Well done students! The spirit of giving amongst Oaklands Community is contagious and Inspiring.
  • Tuesday 23 May 2023 Brilliant Club 2023 This spring and summer term, 14 Oaklands students in year 8 took part in the Brilliant Club programme. This is the fourth year that we have taken part as a school.

  • Friday 21 April 2023 Oaklands School - Charity Donation Students of Oaklands fund raised £1,000 in Spring 2023 term to contribute £500 for the Emergency Relief for Earthquake Victims in Turkey and Syria; £500 towards the charity Shelter UK;
  • Tuesday 28 March 2023 Year 8 and Year 9 Globe Trip Last week Oaklands Year 8 and 9 visited the heart of Shakespeare's world in an exciting trip to the Globe Theatre. The Globe Theatre performed a special 90 minute performance of Shakespeare's The Tempest designed for an audience of young people specifically. We truly had appropriate Tempest weather as it rained all day but thankfully our students were kept dry in the coverings of the theatre. Everybody had a wonderful time watching the magic of the play which supported their reading of it in lessons.

  • Sunday 12 March 2023 Year 10 Shropshire Residential 117 students from year 10 took part in a residential to Condover Hall in Shropshire.
  • Wednesday 8 March 2023 Stand Up to Bullying Day February 24th 2023 Year 7 students created posters for Stand Up To Bullying Day Feb 24th 2023. The students artwork selected encompasses and demonstrates the kindness Year 7's want to spread when encouraging people to stand up to bullying.
  • Wednesday 8 March 2023 Wonderful World Book Week We were delighted to celebrate World Book Week here at Oaklands last week. Our librarian Ms. Lawless created a jam packed timetable full of amazing activities. Mr Chu and his 7ASH class held 'secret spell' sessions in our science labs with Year 6 from Lawdale.
