P8 score 2023/24

Progress 8 scores measure secondary school pupil progress from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 (GCSEs) by comparing their results (Attainment 8) to similar pupils nationally, with positive scores meaning better-than-expected progress, negative scores meaning less progress.

This year the DfE have said they are not able to calculate Progress 8 scores for academic years 2024/25 and 2025/26. This is because there is no KS2 assessment data available to calculate the baseline for Progress 8 for these years due to COVID-19 disruptions.

We are incredibly proud to share some fantastic news about the achievements of Oaklands Sixth Form.

According to the latest national performance data, Oaklands is ranked 10th in the country out of 4,354 schools for value-added progress in Applied General (BTEC) qualifications. Our school also ranked 3rd highest progress nationally for progress among disadvantaged students, with Oaklands achieving the 2nd highest point score value-added in the country. All three BTEC subjects (Business, IT and Health & Social Care) delivered exceptional results, with BTEC IT achieving the highest results nationally. These results highlight Oaklands’ strong commitment to supporting all students to achieve exceptional progress and the outstanding progress students make during their time in the Sixth Form.

This means:

• 3rd highest in the country for progress of disadvantaged students

2nd nationally for point score value-added

BTEC IT achieved the highest value-added score in the entire country

We look forward to welcoming the next cohort of students as Oaklands Sixth Form continues to support young people in achieving exceptional progress and success.
