LANGUAGES

The Modern Foreign Languages Department is committed to teaching students fall abilities and to offering a wide choice of language options.

Year 7 pupils learn either Spanish or French, and then choose the languages combination they wish to study. They may choose from French, Spanish, Bengali or French and Spanish. Pupils study their chosen languages at KS3 and must opt for them if they wish to gain a GCSE. Students who speak Bengali can also start GCSE as an addition to French and / or Spanish.

The department runs 2 language mentoring schemes with Lehman Brothers and Herbert Smith, which enrich the pupils' experience in languages.

All languages classrooms are equipped with interactive white boards which give full access to a wide range of authentic materials in target languages.

Various events are regularly organised to motivate students to achieve their full potential and language assistants promote speaking as a regular feature.
