Every Child Matters
Care for the Individual At Oaklands, we believe that all pupils should have at least one adult who knows then well and to whom they can turn for support during their five years at the school. On entering the school pupils will join a tutor group, and it is the tutor with others who will take up this caring role. Each learner will be part of a Learning Team with specialist support and guidance given throughout their school career. Every parent matters At Oaklands, we believe it is very important to work with families in providing the very best education for their children. Parents and carers are encouraged to contact us immediately to discuss matters of concern. We always let parents know of our concerns and provide regular reports on individual learners and a school newsletter called the Oak for the more general information. Through regular contact, parents and carers will make a valuable contribution to their child's education. We believe that we are partners in the education of your children, not the sole educators. Learners are set personal study tasks regularly and this is recorded in their diary. We ask parents to sign the diary and to support us in ensuring that all tasks are completed. We expect parents and carers to support the schools' high expectations in regard to attendance. Parents and carers are encouraged to contact us to discuss matters of concern.
