SHINEOaklands Saturday School

SHINEOaklands Saturday School

Launched in January 2006, the SHINEOaklands Saturday School is a project concentrating on the transfer stage. Thirty of Oaklands year 7 students work in tandem with an equal number of students from our feeder schools on a range of exciting projects.

Each project lasts 5 weeks and will feature a trip as part of the programme of study. There are three teachers for each project, changing with each project to enable them to deliver their specialised expertise. In addition, 3 Teaching Assistants and 3 Year 10 peer mentors remain static and will support the students in their learning. The whole project is under the supervision of Co-ordinator Alan Russell.

  • Project 1 - English/History - A look at the 1940's World War Two in London.
  • Project 2 - Urban Detectives - A look at our immediate environment and clues about the past.
  • Project 3 - Three new sports - Health and fitness
  • Project 4 - Young enterprise business opportunities at home and abroad.
