Continuing Professional Development

Based upon a philosophy of "Learning from each other and learning from what works" Oaklands offers all staff a wide variety of training opportunities.
Oaklands is committed to working collaboratively with other schools, contributing to research activities and being at the leading edge of educational reflection.
In school teachers are given opportunities to plan collaboratively, work with a coach, observe colleagues teaching, mentor a pupil or ITT student, share good practice, participate in school development groups or lead training.
Staff are encouraged to visit other schools, attend networking meetings, contribute to subject or professional associations and act as examiners or moderators.
Staff are supported in taking on further studies, National College of School Leadership courses or overseas bursaries.
The school aims to provide appropriate induction programmes for all new staff.
