Out Of School Hours Learning

Oaklands - A QISS 'Established' Centre
The school offers the students a comprehensive and varied programme of out of hours activities.

Study Support
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings the library and ICT areas in the school are open to enable the students to complete homework and coursework supported by a team of teachers and teaching assistants.

Clubs
There are a variety of clubs at lunchtime and most evenings after school.

Short Courses
These courses run for a short concentrated period. The current offer includes Italian, Japanese, mosaics, extension art and canoeing.

Course work catch-up and examination preparation session
These are on offer at key periods during the school year when the students are preparing for SATs, GCSEs or GNVQs. These may take place during the evening, Saturdays and during the holidays.

Trips and Residentials
All year 7 pupils begin their time at Oaklands with residential experience as part of the induction programme. Departments then offer subject specific trips to enhance the work undertaken in the classroom and other trips will form part of the school rewards programme.

Sports
The PE Department runs a range of sports fixtures throughout the year supported by a training schedule to ensure that the students are fully prepared.
