KS3 Curriculum

Our aim is to provide a curriculum that is broad, balanced and inclusive.

At KS3 all pupils study:

  • Art
  • Citizenship, Personal and Social Education (CPSE)
  • Drama
  • Design Technology
  • English
  • Geography
  • History
  • Information Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Languages
  • Mathematics
  • Music
  • Physical Education (PE)
  • Religious Education (RE)
  • Science

Pupils start by studying either French or Spanish in year 7 but then can choose which language they study from French, Spanish, Bengali or for the most able French and Spanish.

Pupils are usually taught in mixed ability groups but when appropriate , may be grouped by ability. Pupils with special educational needs are supported by additional staff in class and may receive appropriate extra tuition.

All lessons are designed to challenge pupils of all abilities and develop pupils' skills so that they can become independent learners.

Instead of the more traditional homework tasks a programme of personal study challenges and assignments is being developed. These will better equip pupils for the demands of GCSE and A level coursework and will develop the learning skills pupils need in the modern work place.
