Active Citizenship

Citizenship
All students have Citizenship and Personal Social Education on their time table and in year 10 the students sit their GCSE Citizenship (short course).

Leadership
The school provides the students with a number of opportunities where they can play an active part in the life of the school community. For example, there is a KS3 receptionist scheme, Student Technicians within ICT and Art, KS4 Sports Leaders and an active School Council

Conflict Resolution Programme
KS4 students take part in a programme of training to empower them to address matters of conflict with their peers. some students choose to embark upon a second stage of the training where they take on the role of peer trainers delivering sessions to the younger students.

Seniors Programme
KS4 students who are successful in their applications receive training with World Challenge to take on the role of a senior in the school. these pupils will then take on responsibilities and duties in the school, hosts to visitors, pastoral support in tutor time, interpreting for parents.

Community Projects
The school always ceases opportunities to participate in community based projects, for example the Magic Me project working with older people from the Sundial Day Centre.
