  • Oaklands School is a smaller than average-sized secondary school of 800 11-19 learners.
  • We are a fully international school with 30 links worldwide in Europe particularly Scandinavia, Africa, Bangladesh, Syria and Africa.
  • The percentage of students supported by the pupil premium (67%) funding is much higher than average (24%). Around a fifth of the student population in Year 7 is eligible for the Year 7 catch-up premium.
  • A much higher proportion of students than average speak English as an additional language (70% compared to national proportion of 18%) The proportion of students from minority ethnic backgrounds is much higher than average. The largest group are of Bangladeshi heritage.

  • The Headteacher is a National Leader of Education (NLE) and was awarded an OBE in November 2015 for her services to education by the Queen. The school is a National Support School (NSS), providing support to other schools. All three Deputy Heads have NPQH status.
